What landscape trimming covers
Trimming is the detail work that makes a yard look finished. It typically includes shaping hedges and shrubs, cutting back growth that is crowding paths or the house, and tidying the edges around beds, borders and hardscape. Let us know what you have in your yard and we will confirm what we can take care of.
Mowing, edging and trimming: what is the difference?
These terms get used interchangeably, but they handle different parts of the yard:
- Mowing cuts the open lawn to an even height.
- Edging creates a crisp line where grass meets a driveway, sidewalk or landscape bed.
- String trimming reaches grass the mower cannot, such as around trees, fences, posts and tight corners.
- Landscape trimming shapes hedges, shrubs and ornamental plants and keeps them from overgrowing their space.
Common reasons homeowners schedule trimming
Most calls start with something the homeowner has noticed out front. Some of the usual reasons include:
- Hedges have lost their shape or grown taller than intended.
- Shrubs are touching siding, blocking windows or brushing against people on the walkway.
- Plants near the driveway are making it harder to see when backing out.
- Bed edges have blurred and grass is creeping into mulch.
- An HOA notice or an upcoming event, sale or listing photo.
How Florida growth affects upkeep
Many popular local plants, such as viburnum, ficus, podocarpus and various palms and ornamental grasses, put on a lot of growth during the warm, wet season. Plants that look tidy in April can look overgrown by July. That is why trimming tends to be an ongoing task here rather than a once-a-year job.
Timing matters for some plants. Flowering shrubs can lose next season's blooms if cut at the wrong time, and heavy cutting during peak heat can stress certain plants. Keeping shrubs off the house also improves airflow, which can help limit moisture and pest issues along walls.
What trimming does not include
Our trimming focuses on hedges, shrubs and general landscape upkeep. Large tree removal, high limb work and jobs that call for a certified arborist are outside this service. If you are unsure whether your project fits, describe it to us and we will tell you honestly.
Trimming pairs naturally with regular lawn mowing, and well-shaped plantings make it easier to see whether your irrigation is reaching every bed.

Trimming FAQs
How often should hedges and shrubs be trimmed in Florida?
Fast-growing hedges may need attention every few weeks in summer and much less in winter. Slower plants might only need shaping a few times a year. It depends on the plants and the look you want.
Do you haul away the clippings?
Ask us when you request a quote and we will confirm how debris from your job will be handled.
Can you trim palm trees?
Describe the palms and their height when you contact us. Smaller palms may fit within general trimming, while tall palms can require specialized equipment.
